Initially slow to migrate to electronic channels, buy-side usage of FX and PM options is  now rapidly catching up with cash markets. For banks that do not have the budget to build a sophisticated in-house solution, the inability to engage with their clientele electronically is creating an ever greater threat.

Additionally, as regulation continues to exert pressure on the banking community, legacy manual workflows increasing operational risk are now creating real-world problems and increased costs. The drive to retain client relevance and competitiveness whilst automating much of the internal, manual workflow processes has created real demand for a comprehensive, hosted solution. Digital Vega’s Hydra platform more than meets the most complex requirements; developed over the last 3 years using next-generation technologies, Hydra provides a holistic, plug and play solution covering structuring/pre-trade pricing, execution, market risk and credit risk monitoring, lifecycle management.

Via a hosted, browser based deployment, Hydra provides real-time seamless, audited interaction between geographically disparate sales teams and in house trading desks to refine or share ideas or strategies, generates mini term sheets, pay-off analytics. Once a client wishes to execute a transaction, trading desks can either warehouse risk, or cover the resulting risk position with external Liquidity Providers in seconds.

Hydra offers a full sales to trading RFQ capability which will support allocation management, full STP and provides a range of configurable execution routing rules.  Digital Vega will also provide a direct “white label” client User Interface allowing clients to accurately evaluate strategies, share ideas with sales teams and execute directly with the Bank having credit already been checked and correct margins allocated. Already in daily use by several major super-regional and private banking groups, Hydra forms an integral part of Digital Vega’s multi-award winning suite of Option focused solutions for both buy and sell-side.

I have been testing several systems in the market over the past couple of years and none of them really satisfied my need, until I discovered Hydra. I have been using Hydra for more than a year now; the bulk of my business involves managing large portfolios of complex structured products and there is nothing else that comes close to providing the functionality I need.
